Principles, Mission & Vision

The Eight Principles

  1. The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  2. Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
  3. Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
  4. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
  5. The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
  6. The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
  7. Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part
  8. And our Eighth Principle… We affirm and promote the following 8th Principle:Journeying toward spiritual wholeness by building a diverse, multicultural Beloved Community that by our actions accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.

Our Vision


A religiously diverse, LGBTQIA+ embracing, intentionally multiracial and multicultural Unitarian Universalist faith community, journeying together in Love toward spiritual wholeness as we live by our 8 Principles, that is:

Open to Everyone

We welcome and celebrate people of all ages, classes, colors, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, abilities, and cultural backgrounds, understanding that we will be enriched and changed by all who join us.
We value freedom of belief and lifelong growth, and welcome people of all religious and philosophical backgrounds, including all faith traditions as well as atheism, agnosticism, secular humanism, and earth-centered spirituality.

Committed to Transformative Justice

  • We work in partnership for racial, social, and environmental justice and sustainability.
  • We act to dismantle systemic racism and other oppression and to empower all people to thrive.

Building Beloved Community

  • We commit ourselves to the ethical, moral, and spiritual growth of our young people as well as our entire community.
  • We share inspiration, beauty, love, and joy through music, words, movement, and play.
  • We challenge each other to continue learning and growing beyond what we are.
  • We are a compassionate community, respecting, nourishing, and supporting one another in facing the joys, sorrows, and concerns of living.

Rather than creeds or doctrine, this Unitarian Universalist congregation is based on evolving Principles, Sources, and Purposes. All are welcome to join us in covenant to support the goals and Principles of this congregation and of the Unitarian Universalist Association.
